The Laboratory of Histology - Embryology belongs to the Department of Medical Sciences (formerly Morphofunctional Department) of the School of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
It was established in 1932 (Government Gazette 86/t.A΄/ March 23, 1932) and serves the teaching, research, diagnostic, training and academic needs of the Medical School in the field of Histology and Embryology.
The Laboratory includes and operates the following Units, which cover the wide range of Cellular, Molecular and Developmental Biology, Experimental Embryology, as well as the Humanities. Specifically:
The Laboratory of Histology - Embryology is located a) on the 1st and 2nd floors of building 4 of the Medical School facilities on 75 Mikras Asias Street in Goudi and b) on the ground floor and 4th floor of the Medical School building on 176 Michalakopoulou and Tetrapoleos Streets.
These spaces, house its research laboratories, training spaces (classroom "Christos Kittas", laboratory exercises room), meeting room, secretarial spaces and offices of faculty members.
In its long-term course, the Histology-Embryology Laboratory has offered high-level research work, with international recognition.
